Synopsis from Goodreads:
Easton Crawford put his modeling career and good looks
before his marriage until it was over. Years later, he is finally learning how
to be the father his daughter needed him to be. He’s not looking for a new mom
for his daughter—just nightly casual hook-ups. When his best friend, Avery,
convinces him that a good way to meet a lot of single women is to go on a
single’s cruise, Easton finds more than just a hook-up when he meets a fellow
cruiser, Brooke.
Brooke Bradley has taken care of her younger sister, Bailee,
for most of their lives. While their mother was enjoying not being a mother,
Brooke became the adult in the household at thirteen. She had always taken care
of the people in her life, especially her boyfriend, Jared. If it wasn’t for
Brooke, Jared wouldn’t know how to function throughout the day.
When Brooke’s best friend, Nicole, gives her a gift of going
on a cruise without telling her that it’s a single’s cruise, will Brooke find
someone willing to be her constant and finally leave Jared?
Brooke and Easton learn that people are brought into their
lives for many reasons. Over time, they find out what those reasons are. Some
are to be a temporary acquaintance while others are there for life.
My thoughts......
Let me say, I wasn’t a fan of Easton at first aside from his
good looks, he was a cocky son of gun, who wanted nothing more than a casual
hook up, he didn’t treat women the best BUT.... he proved himself worthy. Sure,
in the beginning, he was your typical male whore, who ended up getting married
at a young age. Using his good looks, he continued to sew his wild oats. As
time went on he realized his mistakes. . His world is literally turned upside
down during his divorce. Then something very unexpected happens and Easton has
no choice to step up to the plate. At
this point, I started falling in love with him more and more. He is a great
father, friend and despite a wild past, he proves to be a great boyfriend and one
would be lucky to have. We have all
experienced love. I believe that there are different levels of love. I also
believe that when we meet that one person, we experience a love that is just
indescribable. Some people are lucky and meet that special someone the first
time around. Some of us have to weed through the bad to finally discover the
good.
When he meets Brooke, his world is turned upside down again.
She makes him want to be a better man, a better father a better person. He has
never wanted anything so bad before in his life and for the first time he finds
himself pinning for a women he knows he can’t have.
Brooke is stuck in a comfortable relationship with Jared,
which her best friend isn’t too fond of. While on the cruise she meets Easton.
Telling him that she is in a relationship and there for moral support and
nothing more, she tells him like it is. During the cruise, they discover the
start of a great friendship but as the days go by she finds her doing everything
in her power to keep those boundaries in the friend zone. The more she hangs
out with Easton, the more she realizes how unhappy she been and the harder she
fights the temptation of Easton. Trying to understand her conflicting feelings,
she tries to distance herself. When she returns home, she finds her answers.
Slowly exploring new relationships, both Easton and Brooke
are finding themselves in a place they have never been before. Just as things
are going great for both of them, they are faced with some life altering news. Brooke
stays positive the entire time while Easton realizes that aside from his
daughter, he could potentially lose his one true love.
Brooke is a strong, sweet and beautiful person, how can you
not fall in love with her character. I love how much she was able to affect
Easton in all the right ways.
This is a beautiful story about, finding yourself, finding
love when you least expect it and understanding how hard love and life can be
and in the end it was worth every ounce of strength and tears.
Kimberly Knight did a fantastic job on this story and its
characters. I am hoping there is a book two in the works. I want to see where
Easton, Brook and peanut end up as well as Avery and Nicole.
About Kimberly:
Kimberly Knight has just moved from the Bay Area in California to the mountains near a lake with her loving husband and spoiled cat, Precious. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her favorite reality TV shows, playing co-ed slow pitch softball in a few local leagues, rooting for her SF Giants and San Jose Sharks and playing computer games like World of Warcraft with Audrey Harte and online poker. Now that she is near a lake, she plans on working on her tan and doing more outdoor stuff like...watching hot guys ski. However, the bulk of her time is dedicated to writing and reading Romance and Erotic fiction.
