My 4 star review for Shaken, Not Stirred (Last Call #5) by Sawyer Bennett
Summary:
Casey Markham’s life was turned upside down when her brother Brody went to prison for a crime he didn’t commit and because of that time in her life. She has sworn off relationships. She only goes for men who are into themselves and their money and those that don’t mind a casual fling. These are her rules she has set into place so that she would never be hurt again.
Tenn Jennings wants nothing more than to be close to his daughter. While visiting Outer Banks to find a more permanent location the last thing he expected was the beautiful and feisty Casey. He can’t get her off his mind and he can also see how jaded she is when it comes to men and relationships.
She is determined to keep him away, he is determined to make her stay. Both have been hurt by past relationships. He isn’t giving up easily and he is going to make her see that she is worthy of love.
My Thoughts:
Ohh Casey… She is beautiful and completely strong willed. She was wronged in the worst way and placed stones around her heart and her feelings. Heck, there are no feelings because the men she chooses to date are just plain shallow and all about their money and status in society.
While all of her friends are happy in love, she is envious of them. She puts on a good front for her friends but deep down she is realizing that she isn’t happy. She is just filling a void and she wants more. She wants her HEA.
When the mysterious biker ends up in her brother’s bar, she decides to step out of her comfort zone she hooks up with Tenn. He ends up turning her world upside down in the best way possible. It was just supposed to be one night but she needs more. He makes her feel things she has never felt before and she begins to question her choices.
Tenn didn’t have much luck with his relationship the first time around but he was blessed with an amazing daughter. He is looking to settle down in the Outer Banks area to be closer to her and open up the shop he has been dreaming of. When he meets Casey and experiences an amazing night, he is determined to stay and make her a part of his future.
He can see that Casey was hurt bad in the past and when she explains why she dates who she dates, he does all he can to show her that he isn’t one of them. When a family tragedy strikes and the truth comes out, Casey proceeds with caution and when she tells Tenn how she really feels, he sends her away.
Casey is beyond hurt, she finally finds a guy and her greatest fear comes true. When Tenn realizes his mistake he does all he can to prove just how much he cares.
I loved how Casey accepted and loved Tenn for just being Tenn and how she clicked immediately with his daughter. It was nice to see Casey finally open up and have the relationship she has always wanted. Tenn was able to give that to her. Casey in return gave Tenn the support and loved he needed as well.
No relationship is perfect and there will always be bumps in the road, their bumps started off a little bit earlier rather than later. Tenn and Casey are perfect for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts.
