Title: Surviving Us
Authors: Erin Noelle
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Two survivors.
Two weeks.
One awakening.
When Bristol Criswell travels to St. Lucia for an Enduring Life retreat, she hopes to discover encouragement and support from like souls. A vacation fling is the furthest thing from her mind, especially not with a cocky-mouthed, arrogant jerk like Davis McKay.
But when it becomes evident she can't deny the magnetic attraction between the two, she gives in to her desires, and for the first time in her life, learns the difference between simply living and truly feeling alive.
As their time in paradise quickly comes to an end, will her heart be able to withstand another devastating loss when it's time to say goodbye, or will their connection be strong enough to survive the real world?
Death brought them together, but love will give them a reason to live.
**This book is a full-length, stand alone novel that is not a part of a series**
IT TAKES EVERYTHING I have not to smile as I watch Bristol throw her little fit. Knowing that she came by my place last night, and she’s jealous because she thinks I was there with another chick, makes my ego swell and my cock hard.
Once she’s finished digging her finger into my stomach and calling me a dick—which I usually am, but surprisingly don’t want to be one around her; I refuse to ask myself why this is—I do exactly what I’ve yearned to do since the moment I laid eyes on her. I claim her perfectly pouty lips with mine in demanding, caveman-esque fashion, hoping every person on this beach understands the statement I’m making.
I’m not sure if her ‘friend’ from last night is even out here, but I hope to God he is, because as a guy, I know with certainty the way he looked at her wasn’t how a big brother should look at his little sister. Ever. The way his eyes roamed up and down her body, how his hand splayed out on her bare back, holding her close to him, and the way he called her ‘baby girl’, all said plenty about his true intentions. I’m not usually one to cock-block, especially knowing the reason he’s even here is because something really fucked up has happened in his life, but I’ll be damned if he’s getting anywhere near Bristol while we’re here. She’s mine.
Her lips part with no resistance as the tip of my tongue requests entrance, finally allowing me to savor the taste of her sugary sweetness. My hands glide around her jaw to the back of her neck, fingers threading through her silky hair as I continue to explore her mouth, our tongues curling around one another’s in an effortless, synchronized movement.
She moans into my mouth, a direct command for my cock to stand at full-attention, and suddenly, I no longer want these other people around us. They’re the only reason I’m not laying her flat on her back in the sand right now and devouring every inch of her body, like I’d promised her I’d do. And based on the way she’s digging her nails into my shoulders and not-so-subtly pressing her body into mine, I’m pretty sure it’s what she wants too.
My 4.5 Star Review
“I finally found it,” Davis whispers so quietly in my ear I barley hear
him.
“Found what?” I ask, not tearing my gaze from the view.
“Heaven on earth. Right here. In this place. With you,” he murmurs, resting
his chin on my shoulder.
Trying to
come to terms with her past, Bristol Criswell decides to attend an Enduring
Life retreat in St. Lucia. Being surrounded by people who understand what you
have been through is the support and encouragement she needs so that she is
able to move forward and live life again without the guilt, after all.. She is
a survivor. The last thing she expected was the hot and coldness of D, not to
mention how gorgeous he is.
“You need to stay far away from me, Bristol. I’m supposed to be a good
boy while I’m here, and you’re the perfect kind of trouble for me.”
Davis McKay
is also a survivor. He is not looking forward to the two weeks in St. Lucia for
some life retreat he really doesn’t want to attend. He just wants to continue
to wallow in the guilt and continue in his dickish ways. The moment he sees
Bristol, the two weeks no longer look bad. The thing he realizes right away, is
that there is something about her that makes him want to be normal. He knows
that she is the kind of trouble he isn’t looking for, not with the mess that is
in his head.
Bristol
immediately has a love/hate type of feeling for Davis. He is so hot and cold in
the blink of an eye. He makes her feel things she has never felt before and the
thing is, she feels safe with him. Davis is on the same page, there is an
amazing chemistry between them that he doesn’t fight so hard but she fights it
tooth and nail.
I’ve only known him for a little over a week. But it is the
I-want-to-spend-every-waking-moment-and-the-sleeping-ones-too-until-I-know-everything-about-you
kind, and it’s the most frightening and most exhilarating realization ever. It
happened so slowly, then all of a sudden.
When Davis
kisses Bristol unexpectedly, that one kiss little did they know will not only
change their two weeks at the retreat but it will change their future. Together
they work through their ghosts. They get to know each other and are there for
each other in more ways than one. Davis know the type of man that Bristol needs
and deserves and he definitely isn’t that man. He realizes that he needs to let
her go and so after their time at the retreat is up, there is no looking back.
Putting my life of disarray back together again is like a jigsaw
puzzle. First, I have to secure all the corner and edge pieces, creating a
stable framework, so when I return to her, she’ll slide perfectly into place,
completing my whole.
Bristol and Davis not only ending finding the answers they
were searching for, they also found what neither of them expected… each other.
“I fell head over heels in love with her, and now I’m trying to be the
man she deserves.”
OMG! The
characters in this story were just fantastic. Davis is sexy as hell, a
confident, cocky and kinda mean but underneath that facet, he is a loving,
protective, kind and smart man. He is struggling with his past and his guilt.
Bristol is
smart, beautiful without knowing she is beautiful and in a way sheltered. She
has been struggling with her past and her guilt since she was 7 years old.
They are
both trying to figure out a way to live again and they find that in each other.
Their tragedies is what brings them together but their support for each other
and their hearts help them heal.
I loved all
of the emotions I felt, the sadness, the guilt, the fear, the want and need but
most of all the love and the strength.
This was a
fantastic story and left me with a bit of a book hangover.
Erin Noelle
is brilliant! This is soooo worth
reading. Such a beautiful story about dealing with loss, learning to let go and
understanding it is ok to move forward and LIVE!.
