Fighting to Forget Blog Tour... Check out my 4 star review

FightingtoForget

Fighting to Forget

Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring. But very few are drawn to the pain. Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn. Or so he thought. Working in a Las Vegas bar isn't Georgia McIntyre's dream. But she hopes it'll be an end to the nightmare. She's watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she’s been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn't count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal. And she knows why. She's lived his pain every single day, since the day he left. Changed by time, Rex doesn't remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same. Will she get the absolution she's spent her life seeking? Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

My 4 Star Review

“The evil comes after my body with strokes and whispered words. I yell for death to take me But my cries all go unheard.”

Rex didn’t have an easy childhood, in fact it is those demons and that pain that drives him. It is also the reason he doesn’t do relationship and distances himself emotionally. Fights and music, these are the thing he loves to do. It is what helps him battle his demons. It reminds him that he is alive. He goes through the motions of his everyday life. Numb in a sense, only wanting to feel things he wants but when he wants.
What he wasn’t prepared for was Georgia McIntyre. *insert feelings and chemistry here*

Lived locked in a void, a death with no tomb. But your light guided me and brought me home to you.
~ Ataxia

Georgia is in Vegas for a reason and that reason is Rex.  She has a secret, a big secret one she has been keeping since she was a little girl.  Needing to get close to Rex she does all she can to befriend him. The last thing she expected was her feelings for him to surface with a bang.

Slowly Rex and Georgia form a friendship that quickly turns into so much more. There is something about her that is so familiar to him, she calms him, she brings peace to him and he finds himself happy, genuinely happy for the first time.*Insert hot steamy bliss*

With every relationship comes some challenging times. When Rex learns the truth he is hurt, distraught and feels betrayed. He completely ignores anything that Georgia has to say and pushed her away.

With her spirit completely broken and her heart shattered into pieces, Georgia finds herself alone with nowhere to go and no one to turn to. She finds herself in a place she swore she would never end up in and on a path of destruction.

When Rex realizes the truth he also realizes he made the biggest mistake of his life and the thing is, he maybe too little too late to save the only person he has ever loved.

“I’m never losing you again. I want to feel you breathing against me when I sleep as a constant reminder that you’re here, alive and mine.......”

Rex is so broken and tortured. To have gone through the things he had and still have somewhat of a normal life is amazing. Your heart will ache for him

Then you have the beautiful Georgia. She is tortured as well. She is strong, smart and puts others before her. She is witty, kind and determined.

Both have horrible pasts, pasts they must face to move onto their future.

I loved this story. The obstacles both characters had to overcome to find happiness. The angst, the heart ache, the shock factor... WOW...

Rex and Georgia are not only fighters but they are survivors. Survivors who are fighting to forget; they are also fighting for a future that they both deserve. A future filled with happiness and love.
Another great installment to this wonderful series...
