My 5 Star review for The Sweetest Game by J Sterling

About the Book:

This is the third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie's story!
“It’s one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It’s like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holiday’s missed, the birthday’s passed, the memories you didn’t get to make with your family…all for what? It’s not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn’t stay awake for nights on end trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn’t care. Baseball’s a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it’s time to let it go.”

My 5 Star Review

“But I lost you. I had to get you back. Nothing comes easy. I fuck things up. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I fuck up baseball too.”

Jack and Cassie have been through so much. He has literally punched us in the stomach with some of his life altering decisions he has made. We have experienced the good, the bad, the ugly but most importantly the wonderful side of TRUE LOVE.
In the Perfect Game, Jack lost Cassie but eventually was able to win her back. The Game Changer Cassie struggled with Jack’s success and she struggled with her insecurities.
The Sweetest Game brings us to the struggles of being a married baseball player, dealing with the politics of the game but most importantly, how important the game is to him as a player but hot the Game could care less about it’s players.
I am not ashamed to admit this but I completely ignored my family to read, get sucked into and finish this book.
Jack F’N Carter, There are times throughout this book that I wanted to hit him, yell at him and then kiss him! You felt his pain, his struggle and his fear but throughout it all, you always feel his love for Cassie.
“I’m Harry Potter, remember? I’m fucking magic!”

Cassie, she is in a great place with her work and she is the happiest she has ever been. Her and Jack finally have their happily ever after, that is until they don’t. We all know that relationships aren’t perfect. There are always ups and downs with the good always comes the bad. In this final installment you really see how much both Jack and Cassie have grown, individually and together.

“Every moment with you is never enough; I always want more. And I always will.”

Of course we have our favorite side kicks... Dean and Melissa. All I have to say is, your curiosity about what is going on with them will be answered and we finally learn what Melissa’s issues are. I fell more in love with Dean.
The whole Melissa and Dean situation, my heart and stomach dropped.. I was like "Yes, you go Dean!" For Mel, I felt so bad but at the same time I wanted to smack her!

“Oh my God. No.” She pressed the button to unlock the door and I hit it again, just as fast, using the child safety locks to trap her in the car. “You cannot Gran-ify me!”

Then we have Gran and Gramps  and all of their wonderful humor, kind hearts and fantastic advice! The advice that Gran and Gramps give.. I CRIED!!! Happy tears but I CRIED!

“Love is the one thing in this world worth taking a risk for. When you’re older and you look back on the life you lived, you won’t regret the fact that you took the chance to love someone. But you will regret the chances on love you didn’t take. Especially the ones rooted in fear. They’re only scary because you have the most to lose. You feel the most for them. Don’t let the fear of losing love stop you from having the experience altogether.”

I don't know how the hell Jenn Sterling does it. Seriously, How does she get Jack F’n Carter to bring my emotions to life the way he does? EVERYTIME! It is insane and honestly the ONLY series that does that to me.

Sterling has such a FANTASTIC knack for getting the reader EMOTIONALLY involved, which of course makes for such a wonderful reading experience.  We know their past, we live through their present and we get a peek into their future. BEST PART EVER!!!

Jenn Sterling has hit a home run with this one.  A Perfect beginning to a Game Changing play that truly ends with The Sweetest Game.

Bravo Bravo Bravo!!

About The Author:

I got fired from my last job. It's true. I know you're sitting there thinking "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone as amazing and awesome as you???" And i'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is- being this awesome is clearly very scary to other less awesome people.

So I said screw them and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing books that mean something to me is a million times better than working for my ass off for someone who doesn't really care about anything other than the bottom line.

My soul feels more satisfied.
My heart, more full.

So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write.
I appreciate it more than you know. :)
